DAY 1: Arrive at Columbo airport and proceed to Sigiriya (approx 4 hours) for a three night stay at Vil Uyana.
DAY 2: Visit the incredible Dambulla rock temple built in the 1st century BC. The complex of five caves includes the largest area of paintings in the world and a colossal 14 metres Buddha carved out of the rock. In the afternoon, take an unforgettable elephant-back safari in Kandalama
DAY 3: Visit the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress. The magnificent 'Lion Rock' rises 200 metres from the scrub jungle and was the innermost stronghold of the ancient fortified town. Continue to Polonnaruwa to see the ruins of the Royal Palace with its astonishing statues and monuments.
DAY 4: Proceed to Kandy via a spice garden in Matale and a demonstration of how spices are used. Tour the city of Kandy, the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings. Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and see a mesmerising cultural show. Two nights stay at Kandy House.
DAY 5: Visit the famous Pinnawala elephant orphanage and see the elephants bathing. Then tour the stunning 147 acre Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.
DAY 6: Proceed to hatton via a tea plantation and tea factory, where you'll taste the best tea in the world. Check into Tea Trails for a two night stay.
DAY 7: Day at leisure. Go trekking, biking or white-water rafting, play tennis and croquet, relax by the pool or in the spa and enjoy traditional afternoon tea on the sweeping lawns with panoramic views across the lake and mountains beymond.
DAY 8: Proceed to the historic of Galle for a tour of Galle Fort a world heritage site and once the country's main port. En route, stop in Kitulgala, the river location for the oscar winning film Bridge on the River Kwai, then proceed to your chosen beach hotel or return to the airport.
