This is the perfect tour to introduce you to Vietnam; discover all the main attractions and glimpse the delights of this country. Day 1: UK-Ho Chi Minh City (via Frankfurt) and onwards to the captial city Hanoi Late afternoon, tour the shops and alleyways within the Old Quarter of Hanoi by traditional cyclo. Then relax with a cocktail whilst you are presented with an informative talk from a local historian about Vietnam's remarkable history. Move on to a popular restaurant, followed by a traditional water puppet show. Day 3: Hanoi Visit the One Pillar Pagoda, and the monumental marble mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh. The morning concludes at the Temple of Literature. Spend your afternoon at leisure, or opt for a visit to the Museum of Ethnology. Day 4-5: Overnight Cruise Depart for an overnight cruise around the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. Enjoy a Vietnamese buffet lunch, then set sail to explore caves and grattoes that once offered shelter to pirates that sailed the South China Sea. Listen to the myths and legends, before the opportunity for swimming and kayaking within the bay. Return to Hanoi and fly to the Imperial City of Hue. Transfer to your hotel. Day 6: Imperial City of Hue Home to Vietnam's last ruling dynasty, Hue has many monuments and today's visit explores the sights. Begin with a cruise down the Perfume River to see the Thien Mu Pagoda and the Royal Tombs of Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Later, enjoy searching the Dong Ba Market for incredible bargains, then take a tour of Hue's Imperial Citadel. Dine at the popular Ancient Hue Restaurant. Day 7: Hanoi-Hoi An Depart Hanoi via the Hai Van Pass, taking the scenic journey past villages and beautiful fruit orchards to arrive at the World Heritage listed Hoi An. Stop in Danang and tour the Cham Museum, then go for a walk on China Beach and Marble Mountain. Arrive in Hoi An, and after a rest, take a tour of the central market, Japanese Bridge, Fukien Assembly Hall and Tan Ky Old House. Day 8: Hoi An Spend the day at your own leisure discovering handicraft shops, relaxing on the beach or joining a tour to the 7th or 13th Century Champa ruins of My Son. Day 9:Leave Hoi An and fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Take a short tour of the city, visit the War Remnants Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, former Presidential Palace and Ben Thanh Market. Day 10: Take a 2 hour drive to My Tho, nestled deep within the Mekong Delta. Famous for its extensive orchards and rice fields. Take a cruise along the Mekong River and see a rural cottage industry at work; then enjoy a horse and cart ride through the village. Returning to Ho Chi Minh City for your Farewell Dinner in a local restaurant. Day 11: A day at leisure, before departing early evening for your flight back to the UK.
